WATER SOFTENER ADDENDUM (FOR SELECT UNITS)



TENANT’S DUTY TO READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS DOCUMENT

You, as the tenant, are required to read the lease agreement and any addendum and ensure your understanding of this document as a legally binding contract.

 Please review the information contained in this document and sign where indicated acknowledging your receipt and understanding of this addendum.

 

UNINTERRUPTED WATER SOFTENER USAGE IS REQUIRED IN THIS UNIT

Hanson Water Softener (262-251-8740) is a recommended contractor.

However, you may use any water softener company that you wish or purchase any water softener that is suitable for this apartment. Proof of an installed water softener is required if not using Hanson Water Softener.

You are responsible for purchasing and adding the appropriate salt or chemicals to the water softener.

IF YOU ARE PURCHASING OR LEASING A WATER SOFTENER AND WILL NOT USE THE WATER SOFTENER THAT IS ALREADY INSTALLED IN YOUR APARTMENT:

If plumbing alteration is necessary to install your leased/ purchased water softener, then it is your financial responsibility to have the water softener installed properly. Upon termination of your lease, the plumbing and any alterations made must be returned to move-in condition, at your expense. If not returned to move-in condition at the time of your move-out, you will be billed for any charges necessary to restore plumbing to move-in condition.

 

IF YOU WANT TO USE THE WATER SOFTENER THAT IS ALREADY INSTALLED IN YOUR APARTMENT:

A water softener is already installed in your apartment. You must contact Hanson’s Water Softener (262-251-8740) or Culligan (262-384-3449) to put the softener lease in your name on move-in day or on the 1rst business day after move-in. If you fail to do so, Stern Properties will authorize the water softener to be put in your name and you will be charged a service charge of $25 to schedule this service.

If your unit has a softener that is already installed that is owned by the owner of the building, you are welcome to use the softener for no rental charge until it breaks, or until the owner decides to remove the softener.   Once the owner’s softener is removed, you will be responsible for replacing the softener with a rental (or purchase).   The owner will be responsible for plumbing costs if a replacement softener has to be removed/installed.
